The Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum has a multifaceted collection of prints and paintings which is well worth exploring – like the works of the painter Theodor Egerland (1910-2000) with his large-scale, brightly colored depictions of Brunswick’s townscape which he created in the 1950s and 1960s, or the portrait of Duke Augustus the Younger (1579-1666) and his family making music by the court painter Albert Freyse.
