Have a look into the private archive of the photographer Uwe Brodmann and you will see, passing before your very eyes, a unique record of Braunschweig and its surrounding region, over the past half of a century. This extraordinary treasure, unearthed by the Braunschweig State Museum in conjunction with the Braunschweig Municipal Museum, is now being put on public view. From the 25th of October, Brodmann's distinctive and unmistakable images of Braunschweig and its region will be on display in a major retrospective: the early documentary work, the artistic panoramic shots, and most recent collage photos. From the anti-Vietnam War protests of the 1960s to portraits of refugees of our days, the exhibition becomes a rich panorama itself, of Braunschweig life through Uwe Brodmann's remarkable lens. An extensive and diverse series of events will accompany the exhibition until its finissage.
The exhibit “A Click of a Shutter” is sponsored by the Stiftung Braunschweigischer Kulturbesitz.
The cooperative nature of the two museums is underlined by a combined ticket, which is available for individuals for 8 €. If you want to share the experience with friends, the “4Friends” ticket is worthwhile, allowing four people to visit both exhibitions for 24 €.
A catalog has been published for the exhibitions “A Click of the Shutter. Brodmann in the Brunswick region” and “A Click of the Shutter. Brodmann wordwilde”. It is available in the museum stores of the Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum and the Städtisches Museum Braunschweig at a price of 24,90 €.
“A Click of the Shutter. Brodmann in the Brunswick region” is the title of the part of the exhibition with photographs by Uwe Brodmann that is being shown at the Landesmuseum Hinter Aegidien.
