The museum’s scientific interest lies in identifying and describing the diverse fauna of earth and its history.

Our comprehensive collection provides the basis for this research and is constantly being extended through national and international excavations.

Current Research Projects

Student excavation helpers at the dig site "Jurassic Sea at Schandelah". The Posidonia shale is systematically checked for fossils layer by layer. Fossil finds are measured and recorded in an inventory.
