Animal sponsors at the aquarium bear a part of the cost for feeding the animals (starting at 50 € per year). In return, they can visit the permanent exhibition of the museum for free and a sign at the aquarium names them as one of the "godparents".

The sponsorship fee for a museum specimen is used for the expansion and maintenance of the collection, research, or educational projects. In return, the sponsors gain free use of images of their sponsored specimen and will receive invitations for special events at the museum.
